Lib Dems lead community weeding efforts

Across the District weeds have become a prevalent issue, that is why from Morecambe to Caton, Lib Dems and community volunteers have picked up tools and taken to the streets.

In Morecambe, the Lib Dems are working with Labour and Independent Councillors as a part of the ‘Alley Champions’ initiative. We are digging up weeds and tidying up our streets. Residents have been delighted with the visible improvement to our area!

One Sunday in Brookhouse, volunteers clear over 30 bags worth of weeds! This has made a massive improvement to the look of the area! Many residents came out to thank their local Lib Dem team for picking up the slack from Lancashire County Council, some have offered to take part in future weeding session. Weeding not only improves the look our areas but play of trying to prevent roads flooding by keeping gullies clear.

Local Campaigner Peter Jackson said “Its great to see people take pride in their local area by coming out and weeding. Councillor Joyce Pritchard and I would like to thank the public-spirited volunteers who came out so willingly to help. It disappointing that the Conservative run County Council has let the roads become so overgrown but the Lib Dems are ready with tools in hand to get hard at work!”

If your street could do with weeding get in touch. You can email us at [email protected] or ring Peter Jackson on 07867 527918, and we could be coming to a street near you very soon.
